Across the northern mountainous province of Caceres, particularly in Valle del Ambroz, there are significant amounts of chestnut trees of excellent quality. For centuries this production has sustained an economic activity of interest based on the exploitation and processing of these trees with the most diverse applications: baskets, barrels, carpentry …

In 1991 a group of eleven wood-sector entrepreneurs in the Valley of Ambroz create in Hervás AMHYCO “EMPLOYERS ASSOCIATION OF FURNITURE AND WOOD OF HERVÁS AND REGION.

This association works for the defense of common interests, to promote the development of associated companies, established as a channel of dialogue with the State Administration, Regional and Local, to promote and sell their own products and to purchase management and joint action for the benefit of its partners.

AMHYCO is represented in Extremadura through FEDEXMADERA, Extremadura wood and furniture cluster, and nationally and internationally for CONFEMADERA, the Spanish Confederation of Wood Companies.
